This distributor is sized for 51 mm filter baskets, the size found on many compact home espresso machines. Rest it on the basket, give it a few turns and the three angled flanges push the grounds into a flat, evenly packed bed. A level bed tamps squarely and is less likely to channel.

Two knurled rings, three flanges

The handle is built from two black knurled rings. The top ring is the grip; the lower ring screws along a threaded stem to set how far the base sits into the basket. Once it matches your dose it stays put, and the polished steel face wipes clean under the tap.
