From Bean to Cup

The Coffee Bean

Every cup starts as the seed of a coffee cherry. Arabica brings sweetness, acidity and aroma; Robusta adds body, crema and roughly twice the caffeine. Most office blends combine the two for a balanced, forgiving cup.

Coffee factA coffee “bean” is the seed of the coffee cherry. Most cherries hold two seeds.

The Roasting Process

Green beans have little flavour until they are roasted. Heat develops sugars and aromatics: lighter roasts keep fruit and acidity, darker roasts bring chocolate, caramel and body. Beans taste best within a few weeks of roasting.

Coffee factRoasting drives out moisture: beans lose roughly 15–20% of their weight in the roaster.

The Coffee Machine

A superautomatic bean-to-cup machine grinds fresh beans for every cup, tamps, extracts and steams milk at the touch of a button. In an office that means consistent coffee for every staff member, with no barista training needed.

Coffee factTraditional espresso is commonly extracted at around 9 bar. Fully automatic machines manage pressure, temperature and brewing for you, with settings that vary by machine and drink.

The Perfect Cup

Fresh beans, clean water, the right grind and a well-maintained machine: that is what turns a coffee break into the best few minutes of the workday. Regular cleaning keeps every cup tasting like the first.

Coffee factBlack brewed coffee is approximately 98–99% water, which is why water quality can make a noticeable difference to flavour.

How Much Coffee Does Your Workplace Need?

60cups per day
1,320cups per month
18.5 kgbeans per month

Assumptions: the numbers you enter above, with every working day counted. Bean use depends on your machine's dose settings and drink mix. The machine suggestion is indicative only: peak times, the number of kitchens and how many people use the machine at once matter as much as total cups.
