Blue 51 mm distributor for smaller baskets

Many compact home machines use 51 mm portafilters, and a full-size 58 mm tool simply will not fit. This distributor is made for those baskets. Its blue anodised handle is knurled around the edge for grip, and the stainless steel base has three sloped flanges that push coffee outwards as you turn.

How the three flanges work

Each flange acts like a small ramp. One or two rotations move the grounds from high spots into gaps, giving an even bed for tamping. The handle screws up or down on the base to set how deep the flanges sit. It is a small tool, so it stores easily in a drawer next to your tamper.
