La Pavoni Esperto Abile: a modern take on the classic hand lever
First shown at a Milan trade fair in 2017, the Abile belongs to La Pavoni’s Esperto family of domestic lever machines. It keeps the brand’s familiar Stradivari base, straight lever and eagle crest, but adds tools that older levers never had: a pressure gauge on the group, a boiler gauge and a strip thermometer that shows group temperature.
You set the pressure
With a spring-free manual lever, your arm decides how hard water is pushed through the coffee. The brewing pressure profiling control and the gauge above the group let you watch that pressure and repeat a profile you like. The boiler and group are solid brass with nickel plating, wrapped in a polished stainless finish with timber handles.
Kit in the box
Two portafilters come with the machine: a standard chromed brass holder and the Fascino holder. Competition baskets for 9 g, 14/16 g and 20 g doses sit under a Competizione shower screen with 200 µm filtering, and the steam tap accepts either the Cappuccino Automatic frother or one of two single-hole tips (1 mm or 2 mm).
