Group Head Seal for 54 mm Breville Machines

On the Barista Express and its 54 mm siblings, the group seal is the most common wear part. Water dribbling down the outside of the portafilter, or a handle that swings past the six o’clock position, means it is time for a new one.

Stepped Silicone Profile

This seal is moulded in cream silicone with the stepped profile of the original. The supplier quotes about 66 mm across and 10 mm tall; silicone stays supple longer than rubber in a hot group.

Fitting Tips

Remove the shower screen, pick out the old seal, clean the groove and push the new one in evenly, step facing up. The Dual Boiler uses the BES900–BES990 seal instead, and loose hose joints take the Breville O-ring pack.
