Gaggia Magenta Plus: fresh-ground coffee with a hands-on milk wand

The Magenta Plus grinds, doses, tamps and brews from whole beans, so there is no separate grinder to buy. A wide panel with a full-colour display and capacitive buttons lists espresso, espresso lungo, coffee, americano and hot water, and it walks you through each cleaning routine on screen.

Milk and coffee control

Instead of an automatic carafe, this model keeps a traditional stainless steam wand that accepts jugs of different sizes and also pours hot water for tea. The 100% ceramic burrs offer five grind settings and stay cool and quiet in use. Optiaroma sets the dose across five strengths, a short pre-brew pause wets the puck before extraction, and an aroma lid helps keep the beans fresh. A bypass chute takes pre-ground or decaf, and the Quick Heat boiler, made from aluminium and stainless steel, has the machine ready for the first cup quickly. The brew group slides out for rinsing under the tap.
