Gaggia Magenta Prestige: one-touch milk drinks from whole beans

The Prestige is the Magenta for people who mostly drink white coffee. Pick a recipe on the colour screen and the machine grinds, brews and then tops the cup with milk drawn from its own carafe, from ristretto through to cappuccino, café au lait, flat white and latte macchiato, plus frothed milk and hot water.

The carafe and the coffee

Milk is frothed in two stages and de-bubbled, which gives a fine, even foam at a consistent temperature. After use the carafe runs its own cleaning cycle and can go straight into the fridge. On the coffee side, a 100% ceramic grinder with five settings, five Optiaroma strengths, a pre-brew pause and an aroma-sealing bean lid let you tune each cup. A removable brew group, a stainless espresso tray that lifts out to sit closer to small cups, a ground-coffee bypass and the fast Quick Heat boiler complete the package.
