Velvet Voltage is the darkest and strongest blend in the Panica range. It combines Arabica and Robusta beans, roasted dark for a heavy body and a thick, lasting crema, and it comes as 1 kg of whole beans.

Flavour

The bag lists dark cocoa, molasses and roasted nuts, with toasted caramel and a little spice behind them. Despite the roast it stays smooth rather than burnt, and it has the weight to stand up to plenty of milk in lattes and flat whites.

Who it suits

Pick it if other blends taste too mild in milk. For something still rich but less intense, try Laneway No. 7. Darker roasts leave more oils in the group, so regular back-flushing is worth the effort.
