1/4″ Anti-Vacuum Valve for Cimbali and Iberital
This valve lets air into the boiler as it cools so a vacuum cannot form and draw liquid back through the steam wand. It shuts again once steam pressure rises during warm-up. A failed anti-vac can also cause the boiler to overfill slowly, which shows up as wet steam from the wand.
Ball-Type Brass Valve
The body is a long brass hex with a 1/4″ male thread. Inside, a small ball lifts to let air in and is pushed onto its seat by steam to seal. Scale on that ball is the usual reason these valves start to hiss. Wrap the thread with PTFE tape or use the correct thread sealant before screwing it in, and do not over-tighten the brass.
