Managing a large hopper at home

The K3 Touch hopper holds more beans than most households use quickly, so it is worth filling it only partway. Beans stay fresher in a sealed bag than in a hopper, and a smaller load makes changing coffees easier. Once the hopper is sorted, programme the single and double timers with scales, and use manual mode when you want a different amount. Micrometric adjustment lets you make small corrections when a shot runs fast or slow; change one thing at a time. The commercial-style burrs will last a long time at home, though they are wear parts, and the chute should be brushed out often.
