IZZO Espresso Machine Repairs
Izzo is an Italian name known for good-looking, solidly built espresso machines such as the Alex and Duetto, with larger models in Melbourne cafés too. Panica fixes them all. Domestic Izzos are left with us at the Caulfield South workshop, and we travel to commercial sites to repair café machines in place.
- Drop-off or visit: home Izzo machines come to our workshop, and commercial machines get an on-site technician.
- Agreed before we start: you see a quote first, we fit genuine parts, and our warranty covers the repair.
- Usual turnaround: workshop jobs normally take 3 to 5 days once the machine arrives.
Repair or buy new? An Izzo with a buzzing vibratory pump, a clicking solenoid or a steam valve that drips is a good candidate for repair, as these are replaceable parts on an otherwise durable machine. If the boiler or frame is badly corroded, or several major parts have failed at once, it may be time to browse new home and café machines for sale.

From the Alex to the café counter
Izzo machines combine elegant Italian styling with a sturdy build. Home baristas often own an Alex or a Duetto, while small and medium cafés use Izzo commercial versions. Whichever model you have, the internals share familiar parts: a vibratory pump, solenoid valves, steam valves and a boiler that needs regular descaling in Victorian water.
Izzo owners often notice small changes early because the machines are so consistent when healthy. A new sound, a slower pour or a wetter puck is worth mentioning when you book, as it helps the technician narrow down the cause quickly.
Noises, drips and cold shots: what they tell us
A rattling or buzzing pump
Vibratory pumps get louder as they wear or when air and scale get into the line. If the noise comes with weak flow, the pump or its inlet usually needs replacing.
Water dumping into the drip tray
The solenoid valve releases pressure after each shot. When its coil fails or scale holds it open, you will hear clicking or see water running into the tray at odd times.
A steam knob that never quite closes
Worn seals inside the steam valve let a constant hiss or drip escape from the wand. Rebuilding the valve fixes it and stops the boiler losing pressure.
Lukewarm espresso
Low brew temperature comes from scale on the heating element, a failing thermostat or a pressure switch out of adjustment. We test each one and descale the boiler and water lines.
Two ways to get your Izzo repaired
Home machines: phone ahead, then bring your Izzo to Rear 1/331 North Road, Caulfield South, via the laneway off Bambra Road. Bring the power cord, water tank and drip tray, plus any milk parts. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday 10 am to 1 pm.
Commercial machines: a technician visits your café or business, within 4–24 hours inside 30 km of Caulfield South, or 24–48 hours for locations further out. We confirm every booking within one business day.
Either way, you get a quote before anything is replaced, and parts are genuine. If something has to be ordered, we tell you what to expect while it arrives.
Keeping the polish and the performance
- Wipe the chrome with a soft damp cloth; harsh cleaners dull the finish.
- Purge and wipe the steam wand after each use so milk does not bake on.
- Use filtered water to slow scale in the boiler and solenoid.
- Run a blind basket backflush on commercial Izzo groups at the end of each trading day.
- Replace the group gasket at the first sign of a leak, before it damages the handle seal.
