Delonghi Coffee Machine Repairs
From slim Dedica pump espresso machines to fully automatic ECAM bean-to-cup models, DeLonghi makes some of the most common home coffee machines in Melbourne. Repair or buy new? On an ECAM, a sticking brew unit, a blocked milk system or a worn grinder is usually worth fixing, because those parts can be replaced individually. A Dedica with a failed thermoblock or pump is often still repairable, though if several parts have gone at once a new machine may be better value; browse new coffee machines in our shop.

Dedica, ECAM and what goes wrong
DeLonghi machines brought to Panica fall roughly into two groups. Manual pump machines like the Dedica heat water through a thermoblock and rely on you to dose and tamp. Fully automatic ECAM machines have a grinder, a removable brew unit, a thermoblock and, on many models, an automatic milk system, all managed by a control board. Because the designs are so different, our first step is always to confirm the model and listen to how the fault shows up.
Typical DeLonghi faults
ECAM brew unit will not move or locks up
Coffee grounds build up around the brew unit and its drive. If the unit is not cleaned, it can stick and stop the cycle. Cleaning and lubrication often fix it; worn units are replaced.
Error messages on the display
Many DeLonghi warnings point to a sensor, a blocked grounds container or a water circuit fault. We read the symptom against the model to narrow it down instead of replacing parts blindly.
Thermoblock problems on a Dedica
Scale restricts the small passages in the thermoblock, giving slow flow and lukewarm coffee. Descaling sometimes clears it; badly blocked thermoblocks need replacing.
Milk froth that is thin or missing
Automatic milk carafes have small tubes and valves that clog with dried milk. A careful clean and new seals usually bring back the foam.
Bringing your DeLonghi in
Call us first, then come to Rear 1/331 North Road, Caulfield South, using the laneway off Bambra Road. Weekday hours run 9 am to 4 pm, plus 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Please empty the bean hopper and bring the machine with its power cord, water tank, drip tray and milk carafe or jug. We diagnose the fault, send a quote, and order parts in if they are needed. Most repairs are ready to collect in 3 to 5 days.
Care that saves a repair
Take out the ECAM brew unit and rinse it under running water regularly, letting it dry before refitting. Run the descale programme when prompted. Rinse milk components straight after use. On a Dedica, clean the shower screen and use filtered water to slow scale in the thermoblock.
DeLonghi repair FAQ
Should I keep descaling if my machine still shows the descale light?
If the light returns quickly after a full cycle, there may be a sensor or water circuit fault. That is a good time to bring it in.
Do you repair DeLonghi machines other than ECAM and Dedica?
